For much of our short history, New Zealanders have shown leadership on the great challenges of the time.
From worker’s rights at the close of the 19th century to women’s rights at the start of the 20th, from standing up to the nuclear superpowers in the Pacific to apartheid in South Africa, from protecting our shared environment to expanding personal freedom, our tiny nation has made great progress on issue after issue.
The 21st century has brought with it a whole new set of challenges
Climate change, inequality, our economic resilience, child poverty, and increased pressure on our land, air and water. A vast majority of kiwis believe we should once again show moral leadership and take on these issues.
The Centre for NZ Progress exists to support those individuals and organisations working to bridge the gap between the world that we live in right now, and the more just, fair and environmentally sustainable world we want to live in. We hope to bring best practice in technology and organising ideas from around the world to New Zealand campaigners, while also creating opportunities for people to come together and co-create the story of the our movement and what genuine progress looks like.
